Program Design

Content Production

We are experienced in developing highly engaging and interactive training content. We produce videos and conduct online and hybrid live streaming events. We develop quizzes for self-assessment and extensive tests that serve as a basis for issuing certificates.

HCP Recruitment and Training

Doctors, nurses, pharmacists and community health workers are the key enablers when implementing healthcare programs. We can identify, recruit and train HCPs for your program. This can be through direct training on our platform or through a ToT program.

Patient Recruitment

Patients are the ultimate beneficiaries of any healthcare program. With the help of our HCPs, we can recruit target patients and provide assistance or medical services according to the program’s mission.

Data Collection

Health programs require access to ongoing data in order to assess if things are going in the right direction or require adjustments. Our digital platform allows us to rapidly collect data from our HCPs and to display the results immediately in our dashboard.

Healthcare Research

We can field polls and surveys through our platform to our extensive HCP network, obtaining responses within days instead of weeks. Myanmar Mental Health Society

Bridging the Mental Health Access Gap

In Myanmar, nearly 90% of mental health disorders went untreated before recent crises, with the situation worsening due to the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, and ungoing unrest. This case study highlights an innovative digital training program aimed at bridging the mental health treatment gap in Myanmar by equipping primary care providers (PCPs) with essential mental health skills. Collaborating with the Myanmar Mental Health Society, Z-waka launched a six-month training program featuring expert-led videos on key topics like depression, psychosis, and suicide assessment. The program reached 347 healthcare professionals across Myanmar, showing a 70% improvement in diagnostic and management skills for common mental health disorders. The initiative has proven that digital learning is an effective way to expand mental health services in resource-limited settings. Download the Case Report.

DKT International

Family Planning Training

DKT Myanmar and Z-waka collaborated on a UNFPA-funded project to train primary care doctors and pharmacists in family planning and contraception on the Z-waka digital platform. Topics covered the use of popular contraception products such as injectables, post abortion care, postpartum family planning, family planning counseling. Z-waka was responsible for the production of the educational videos, assessments and webinars. With Z-waka’s help over 1000 healthcare professionals have been trained within one year. Population Services International (PSI)

Training in Medical Abortion

In case of unwanted pregnancies, young women in developing countries often resort to unsafe abortion practices. This can lead to severe outcomes and endanger the lives of these women. Population Services International Vietnam (PSI) and Vietnam’s National O&G Hospital conducted a two-stage training program in safe medical abortion for healthcare providers on the Z-waka platform. In a first step, 20 doctors from several provinces in Vietnam were trained to become trainers. In the second step, the training expanded to 500 doctors across Vietnam and was conducted both both in person and through our platform. Read PSI’s Case Brief.

Case Report

Diabetes Management Training

Myanmar has one of the highest diabetes prevalence rates in Southeast Asia, affecting approximately 10.5% of the adult population. Women, in particular, suffer from diabetes at rates nearly twice as high as men.

Organized by the North Okkalapa General Hospital Endocrine Department and Z-waka, the Endocrine Academy Channel on the Z-waka platform offered a comprehensive training program tailored to the needs of Primary Care Providers across Myanmar. The initiative aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare providers. In addition, providers were also equipped with materials to distribute to their patients. World Bank & WHO

Availability & Pricing of Essential Medicines in Myanmar

With the lack of public data available amidst the political turmoil in Myanmar, the World Bank in collaboration with the World Health Organization were looking for innovative approaches to collect data on the availability and pricing of essential medicines in Myanmar. Z-waka offered a way to rapidly design, field and collect data from weekly polls and surveys with hundreds of doctors throughout Myanmar.
